Peartree111 ::: Favorites (who is in fact Peartree) In response to the general contempt towards Lang Lang's expressions - most performers do it - do catch on. And anyone who has ever practised a piece to reasonably high standard and no longer have to stare feverishly at the keyboard in order to avoid mistakes during performances, will understand that expressions such as these come naturally. Besides, can anyone really tell the difference between honest expression and pretension for any performer? PearTree ::: Favorites Many performers have their unusual performance habits - Gould sat on a low chair etc. Lang Lang smiles in his performance, and yes, looks occasionally funny - on other performers, this would probably be classed as a minor eccentricity, but it seems almost intolerable for some on Lang Lang. PearTree ::: Favorites And finally and most importantly - he's musician. Don't like his expressions? Then just listen to the music! I've never been a great fan of Lang Lang, in fact I used to dislike his performances as much as any other 'Clang Clang' advocate.
