And for the record - we're not all a bunch of inexperienced, Fur Elise-loving ignorants - however, not understanding the mind-set involved in a performance, and placing a large, disproportionate emphasis on mainly the superficial and exterior factors of a performance are a few characterisitcs of such an ignorant.

(who is in fact Peartree) In response to the general contempt towards Lang Lang's expressions - most performers do it - do catch on. And anyone who has ever practised a piece to reasonably high standard and no longer have to stare feverishly at the keyboard in order to avoid mistakes during performances, will understand that expressions such as these come naturally. It may be difficult to grasp, some of these expressions aren't just mere pretensions. Besides, can anyone really tell the difference between honest expression and pretension for any performer? 'I don't think...I feel...he doesn't seem' are irritating and arrogant bases for assumptions.(cont below)

Many performers have their unusual performance habits - Gould sat on a low chair etc. Lang Lang smiles in his performance, and yes, looks occasionally funny - on other performers, this would probably be classed as a minor eccentricity, but it seems almost intolerable for some on Lang Lang. And finally and most importantly - he's musician. Don't like his expressions? Then just listen to the music! I've never been a great fan of Lang Lang, in fact I used to dislike his performances as much as any other 'Clang Clang' advocate. However, his technique has clearly improved within this year, and the nickname 'Clang Clang' is no longer validly applicable (see Haydn Sonata in C).

Of course, with music, people are allowed to have their own interpretations and critiques - if you did't like the way he played and piece, there's nothing wrong with that, but responding with vehement name calling and petty insults are puerile and relatively unjustifiable for anyone under the age of 12 (albeit rather amusing for the rest of us).
