As much as I might not be a fan of Sen. Lott, it just irks me when elected officials don't finish their term. Did he give his constituents a fair election last year? It's like when Newt Gingrich resigned the day after he was reelected, it's just a fraud on the voters and doesn't give a real opportunity for other candidates to run.

Another corrupt Republican Bush-rat jumps gracefully off the sinking ship! (smile) Thank God, and Greyhound; he's going! (smile) I would bet Mississippi is happy too!

He's jumping ship before the Alaskan Oil Scandal comes knocking on his door. Go see the latest NOW show on PBS for more.

It won't make an impact anyway. The governor of Mississippi is a Republican and will appoint another Republican to his seat until the special election. There will just be another Republican in his place. Not that big of a deal.

The Republican governor of Mississippi is going to just appoint another Republican to his seat. No big change.

Dear dolt, if you know how it works you'd know that the governor of Mississippi is a Republican and will appoint another Republican to the seat. Read. Maybe it will open your eyes on how the government really works.

I can't wait to hear, three or four years from now, about the corruption scandal Lott will be involved in as a lobbyist.

They've already told us. They don't like not being in charge, and don't expect to be in charge anytime too soon. Boohoo for them. They see the writing on the wall.

The hypocrisy. The irony. Lott says he doesn't like the negative atmosphere in government he helped create, reaching its peak during his GOP witchhunt of Clinton, followed by accusing Dems of being in league with terrorists if they don't march in GOP lockstep with the Neocons. He's just a spoil sport who doesn't like not having any power anymore. He's cashing in, planning to wallow in the filthy money the lobbyists will throw at him. Good riddance to him and his kind.
