Duration: 03:35 minutes
Upload Time: 2007-04-29 02:05:30

May 25, 1965 Lewiston Maine There was a slight dispute about the count. Jersey Joe walcott, the referee lost count while moving Ali back to his corner. As he went over to the judges Ali and Liston resumed fighting, only to be stopped after a flurry of punches from the champ. Sorry for bad quality

Sonny didn't take a dive. He did something no boxer who does ever will; he got back up and fought some more. For whatever it's worth I timed 17 seconds from the time Liston's butt hits the canvas till he got back up on hid feet. It was a legitimate knockout.

sonny was the original anti-hero...now I love him...one of the greatest boxers and punchers ever ...tyson isn't fit to tie up his gloves...

Nat Fleischer of Ring Magazine told Jersey Joe to stop it because Sonny had been down for more than 10 seconds.

ok, jd, you have posited a strong rebuttal. It's kind of a Perry Mason moment; I lose. I admit it. Am grudgingly, slowly beginning to see that both Cassius X-Liston fights were legit. Calling them fake has sustained many of us for lo these many years but we are gonna have to remove the blinders. That does not make Cassius X a good person, even now; you could ask Malcom about 'dat!
